Our Staff, New specials, Growler Club & Open Mic Night
I started to share all of this in a Facebook post but realized that it was WAY too much so, to the blog I go…
The holidays are pretty crazy around here. We have folks heading home (which means lots of big groups coming in to eat), finals week for our student employees and hosting all the holidays parties for our customers.
So, this past Super Bowl Sunday we had our annual Staff “Holiday” party. Lots of fun was had by all and the game did not disappoint having us all on the edge of our seats until that unforgettable interception in the red zone. Crazy, huh?
We have an amazing group of people who keep this machine chugging along and we hope they all know how much we appreciate their hard work. This past year has been a full of curve balls, wrenches in the gears and up & downs and they have taken it all in stride.
So, what’s next?
Well…Matt, Seth, Brandy and I sat down last week to take a long hard look at the menu. What’s working and what’s not. To be honest, some of you may be a little disappointed about what we have decided to take off the menu. But know that many of these items will appear as specials come Spring.
We also reviewed that long Facebook thread where everyone gave us great feedback about our food and discussed how we can tighten things up to keep our food as delicious and consistent as possible and get it all to you as quickly as possible.
We have decided to go back to the old style of menu with lots of your favorite entrees coming back. We hope to have this new menu rocking and rolling within the next week or so. We’ll be sure to make an announcement to let you all know when…
We have also come up with some new “Daily Specials” which you can read about here.
The Growler Club
This is an idea Matt and I have had for a very long time and I finally got around to getting the materials we needed to get it going.
So here’s the deal; The next time you stop in to have your 64oz growler filled up be sure to ask your server or bartender for a Growler Club card. All you need to do is fill out the form on the card and we keep it in our handy-dandy file box behind the bar. After you purchase 11 re-fills, which we keep track of on the back of your card with an awesome little star stamp, your 12th is on us. AND, you get one free fill anytime during your birthday month.
We are also launching a beer lovers email newsletter so be sure to provide us with your email (personal, not business please) address and we will send you a monthly newsletter with brewery news and some email only special offers. Nothing crazy or spammy. I know my inbox of full of stuff I really don’t want or need so we are going to keep it to once a month. Promise. 😉
If you haven’t heard already, we have started hosting an Open Mic Night the first Thursday of every month. Gene Gilbert has graciously offered to provide the equipment and organize this for us each month. Sign up begins at 5pm and the first person or group goes on at 6. Each act gets 15 minutes to show us what they got. We have had a few so far and it’s gaining momentum. So stop on down to support your local musicians.
After February we are going to take a break from the Live Music every Thursday and stick with the Open Mic and Paint Party’s (have you attended one of these yet? Jessie does a great job and everyone has a lot of fun) for now.
Gene is going to help us tweak the acoustics in The Great Room so we can bring in bigger bands and start attracting acts from all over the Northeast to come and play one Saturday a month. We will sell tickets and really make it a “thing” each month.
I have already booked these two amazing artists for early April
and hope to reach out to other bands (like Annie in the Water, Big Leg Emma, and the Atkinson Family Band to name of few) in the coming weeks and months. Essentially create our own little music scene right here in lil’ ol’ Peru, NY. If you know of any bands you’d like to see play shoot me a message and I’ll look into it.
So, thank you to our staff and all of you who supported us this past year. We have lots of plans for 2015 and we hope you join us 🙂
